It's COLD, life drawing sessions, and some new work
how to deal with the freezing cold when you have to walk the dog:
Practice walking in a quick shuffling motion. The idea is to steady yourself with a slight bend of the knees and a lowering motion. You act a little crazy so the dog is really excited to get going. Maybe swing your arms around. The quicker the shuffle the better.
Keep your pockets full of tasty treats. This way, you can let your dog off leash to run their heart out, and hopefully call them back to you with lots of treat love. This is usually 5-8 minutes top. Plus if you let the dog off leash, you can put your hands in your pockets.
Hopefully you have a good coat, but what’s even better is some sort of neck covering. The key here is the neck covering can NOT go over your nose. You have to keep your nose free or you’ll be fogged up like a lake in Scotland.
Short bursts, multiple times a day - we go four times total. This is annoying, but it really keeps the doggie’s spirits up and cold weather is exhilarating, right?
Speaking of the dog, I’ve been giggling out loud making these little sketches of Rosie. There’s a kinda daily news feed on my website where I’m posting them all. You can see them here.
Colored pencil drawings
I posted three drawings to the online shop and wrote a little about them here.
And here’s a super close up of a painting I recently finished. Working on building up my surfaces and using more paint.
Life drawing sessions
I love drawing from life. It’s incredibly rewarding and humbling at the same time. Check out results from my recent sessions here.
Have a wonderful end of the week!
